Second police officer investigated for suspected information leaks

A second police officer is being investigated over suspected information leaks to third parties, following the arraignment of a first officer a few weeks ago, media report.

Times of Malta reports that the officer in question was suspended from all duties and released on police bail pending further investigations.

MaltaToday reports that the officer is Kurt Rizzo, son of former police commissioner John Rizzo.

Rizzo has also tested positive for cocaine in recent days, both newspapers report.

This is the second officer who was involved in information leaks.

Last November, police officer Cherise Camilleri was accused of leaking information related to police operations to third parties for months, "and possibly years."

Later, gym owner Ruud Buhagiar was charged with bribing Camilleri to obtain information on police operations.

Both accused denied charges.
