I'm a Celeb's Dean McCullough's awkward move angers co-star despite warning

Dean McCullough angered Tulisa Contostavlos - as his singing woke her on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!.

The BBC Radio 1 DJ was warned on Monday night's show Tulisa and other campmates wanted to sleep in. The co-stars had been celebrating Maura Higgins' birthday the evening before.

But Dean, 32, ignored the N-Dubz star and burst into song, seemingly waking his campmates. The move irked Tulisa, 36, and viewers of the ITV programme, which is scheduled to end on Sunday December 8.

"Now that she’s out of the Leaders’ Lodge, Tulisa has warned me that there must be no musical theatre early in the morning, so I made it my mission to make sure the camp woke up this morning with the sound of lovely singing," Dean, who has been put up for the majority of the trials so far, said.

Dean, who has presented Radio 1's afternoon show for two years, has met the Bushtucker Trials with varying degrees of success, having even quit by calling out the famous "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!" line.

And his behaviour - both in trials and back in the camp - has frustrated I'm a Celeb fans. Some have even proposed a major change to the show. One said: "They need to change how the voting works so say if you do trial 1 you can’t be voted for trial 2 and then they can be voted again on trial 3 so we are not just seeing the same person everyday."

Another added: "I don't get it because it's not even really entertaining? Like seeing someone scream because they have to stick their arm in a barrel of fish guts is boring after 2 trials." Someone else commented: "I would try a ‘no two trials in a row’ rule for at least one year. You can always revert it if people aren't keen."

Host Ant has also begged viewers to stop voting for Dean to give other celebrities a chance to take part in the show. During Sunday night's spin-off show, Ant said: "Well, right. Let’s all have a serious talk. I’m going to look directly into the camera here. I think it’s good to see other faces down there. This is not a personal thing. It’s not about Dean. It’s about us, just seeing different people down there.

"I think we want to see different people on the show doing [trials]. Some people are, unfortunately, aren't getting... I'd like to see Barry do a trial. I'd like to see Melvin down there. Or Oti."
