Lucy Kennedy was spooked to learn she had been a nun in a past life

This is the moment Lucy Kennedy is spooked to learn she was a nun in a past life. The presenter investigates whether psychics and the spirit world have real merit in her new Virgin Media show Real Life with Lucy.

Lucy, 48, gets the shock of her life in an encounter with white witch Natasha Bracken – who reckons she has had 15 past lives on earth. She tells Lucy: “I am a healer, 50 per cent human and 50 per cent spirit. So a white witch comes inside me.”

Using divining rods, Natasha asks Lucy if she can feel a pull as she points them at her. Natasha reveals: “Now this is your tenth life, you were a nun on your second.”

After hearing this mum-of-three Lucy admits to feeling queasy and Natasha begins the healing process. Lucy lies on the plinth in Natasha’s studio and she works on cleansing her negative energy.

Pointing at her tummy, she adds: “This is where you’ve been tortured, down into your second dimension. You’re 19, and you were placed in the convent against your will.”

Lucy’s feet get cold and she leaves the session feeling nauseous but intrigued. Natasha urges Lucy to look after herself and says: “Your body is very broken as it’s very tired.” Lucy also meets with parapsychologist Ian Cox who warns that psychics are excellent at cold reading.

He explains: “Cold reading is something that you need to be very careful of, that you’re not giving the medium information that they’re then feeding back to you as a sort of revelation when you are vulnerable and when you want to believe.

“Be aware that what you’re hearing is somebody’s opinion. It is not evidence. It is not fact. People attend psychics and take that as evidence, as truth, and that can cause devastation and mayhem.”

However, he concedes that some elements of the psychic phenomenon are plausible, adding: “The research that’s coming out at the moment seems to indicate that the right hemisphere of the brain is the seat of the unconscious.

“It could have been passed down through the ages so that when they walked into somewhere they find it’s familiar.”

Lucy asks: “Like deja vu? There’s my hope right there.” She also goes to the festival at Hill of Uisneach – “the “Sacred Centre of Ireland” – in Co-Westmeath to find out more about why people are attracted to the spiritualism.

Real Life with Lucy is on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Play tomorrow at 9pm.
