Friends star's heartbreaking four-word plea as arrests made over Matthew Perry death

Friends creator Marta Kauffman spoke about Matthew Perry's death and her remarks have resurfaced after the arrest of five individuals connected to the incident last October.

Kauffman issued a four-word plea as she opened up about the loss of the beloved actor, who tragically drowned in his hot tub at his Los Angeles home. In December, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's autopsy report revealed that Perry died from the 'acute effects of ketamine.'

However, a recent investigation has revealed a more sinister cause behind the actor's tragic death, as authorities searched for the truth. In an interview with The Times, 67-year-old TV writer Martha revealed her thoughts on how best to pay tribute to the late actor.

She said: "Two things come to mind: one of them is to donate to drug treatment centers - let’s fight the disease." she began. "And the second way is to watch Friends and remember him not as a man who died like that, but as a man who was hilariously funny." Uttering four heartbreaking words, she then asked fans to remember that Perry "brought joy to everybody".

Last year, Kauffman discussed Perry publicly alongside her Friends co-creator, David Crane. During a joint appearance on the Today show, they revealed their last conversation with the actor. She said: "It was great. He was happy and chipper. He didn’t seem weighed down by anything. He was in a really good place, which is why this seems so unfair."

Matthew Perry’s live-in assistant, two doctors, and a woman dubbed “the ketamine queen” are among five people charged following an investigation into the actor’s death.

The investigation unearthed a “broad underground criminal network” of people who “took advantage” of the Friends star after he fell back into addiction in autumn last year."

It has been reported that Perry had been seeking treatment for depression and anxiety when he became addicted to intravenous ketamine, turning to “unscrupulous doctors who saw him as a way to make quick money."

Perry detailed his decades-long struggles with drug addiction in his 2022 memoir. Despite his pain and struggles, Perry expressed that his recovery journey instilled in him a deep sense of responsibility to support others facing similar challenges.

He expressed: "I am no saint - none of us are - but once you have been at death’s door and you don’t die, you would think you would be bathed in relief and gratitude. But that isn’t it at all - instead, you look at the difficult road ahead of you to get better and you are p*****. Something else happens, too. You are plagued by this nagging question: Why have I been spared?”
