Spain European Championship winning star showed up at Kerry GAA club championship double header

It's been quite a year for Real Madrid and Spain defender Dani Carvajal. The 32-year-old right-back has just been part of the victorious Spain squad who won all seven games on their way to European Championship glory in Germany.

Last month, Carvajal scored the vital opening goal in the last quarter of the Champions League final as Euro kingpins Real Madrid lifted the most prestigious football prize on the continent for a record-extending 15th time

While none of that came as any surprise to sport fans, a few GAA supporters in Co Kerry once got a huge shock when Carvajal showed up at a Kerry GAA second round football championship double header in Killorglin.

The Spanish superstar was there to see Mid Kerry overcome Dingle and Milltown/Castlemaine beat East Kerry in 2016.

That came just weeks ahead of the 2016 Champions League final between Real Madrid and bitter city rivals Atletico Madrid. The reason for his visit was because his then partner was on an exchange visit to Ireland at the time.

Carvajal, just 24-years-old at the time, was still spotted by a couple of eagle-eyed GAA fans who got a snap with the Madrid man, as reported by Balls.ie at the time.
