Zara McDermott and Sam Thompson break silence with statement on future after tearful bust-up

Zara McDermott and Sam Thompson have returned to social media following reports of a 'blazing row'.

Sam was seen in tears at the TRIC Awards this week and having to be consoled by his best mate Pete Wicks. Sam and Zara were said to be having 'crisis talks' about the future of their relationship after reaching breaking point. Zara was even said to have packed her bags and moved out of their Chelsea home to create some distance between them.

This weekend the pair were reunited as they made a show of solidarity at a family event. The pair both attended a local sports day after being invited by Sam's sister Louise Thompson.

Zara, 27, shared a photo the pair holding an ice cream each, as she bemoaned that the there were no sprinkles on offer. She even tagged her boyfriend Sam, 31, who won I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! to dismiss speculation about them breaking up.

Fears for the duo grew after Sam was pictured being consoled by his best friend Pete Wicks. The I'm A Celebrity champ is said to have had a furious exchange with Zara which prompted her to pack her bags and leave their home.

A source told The Sun that the couple are looking to "patch things up" after their latest bump in the road.

Speaking about Zara and Sam's relationship, the insider said: 'Since Christmas, Zara and Sam have been really busy with work and have had little quality time to see each other and as a result, their relationship has suffered. They’ve both wanted to make the most of their careers and say yes to all the exciting opportunities offered to them. Last weekend it came to a head and they had a big row. It was very upsetting and they needed some time to let the dust settle."

Zara had stoked rumours that they were spending time away from each other after reports that she had stayed with her parents before jetting to Majorca for a modelling job. She shared a photo of her in the Spanish sunshine, with the caption: "When life gives you lemons".

Now the couple are looking to "iron out their differences" and look to a brighter future together. The couple are said to be trying to patch things up after Sam was reportedly left distraught. It has been claimed the pair have had "little quality time" together due to their busy work schedules. They started dating in 2019 and hit a rough patch when Zara admitted to cheating on Sam in 2020.

The latest drama comes after Sam appeared to be locked in a heated row on the street with Zara earlier this month, after he represented England at Soccer Aid. Zara could then be seen wagging her finger at her man as they waitied for their taxi to arrive. Zara quickly decided to set the record straight regarding the 'argument' the next morning to shut down any speculation of trouble in paradise.

She shared one of 'row' pictures and issues a statement to her fans. "Why did this make me laugh so much btw," the reality TV star wrote. "'Stop saying you should have scored!!!! You did your best and that's all that matters!!!! You need to stop doubting yourself!!! It looks like we are having an argument but I'm actually telling him positive affirmations in a very passionate manner! [laughing-face emojis]."

Sam also decided to address the snaps in a chat with Pete on their Staying Relevant podcast. He said: "I think it's time to quash the elephant in the room. It's huge. We need to quash these rumours now before they get started. There was an article on the Soccer Aid afterparty where there were photos taken of myself and my lovely girlfriend Zara having what genuinely looked - and I almost feel like we did when I know we didn't. We've been papped looking like we're about to tear each other's throats out," he went on. "It looks I've cheated on her, it's that bad. She's pointing at me with her finger."
