On their path to success, firms count on language schools
Some companies see an advantage in investing in the language education of their employees.
Foreigners say that they often struggle to communicate with Slovaks due to their poor language skills, and it seems that Slovaks themselves are aware of this. Public polling from recent years, including a Grafton poll from 2021, indicates that most jobseekers feel that their language skills are lacking.

Unlike in the past, more companies now offer – and pay for – language education as a way for their workers to grow. This can be beneficial for both the worker and the employer. While some companies go for various education platforms, like Seduo.sk or Duolingo, others prefer for their employees to learn foreign languages at a language school.
“[Language education] is an investment that makes sense [...], and ultimately has long-term positive effects on the company’s performance and competitiveness,” Domica Kesanová, HR generalist from Accace company, told The Slovak Spectator.
For some language schools, company clients make up the majority of the students that enrol in classes. The objective is always the same – to gain confidence in communicating in a foreign language and improve language skills, as well as to have fun.
