A thief made off with valuable items from an apartment after locking the tenant in the balcony, the police said.

The robbery took place in Giacint Tua Street, Gzira, at 9am.

The tenant, a 28-year-old man from Nepal, responded to a knock on the door and the thief, armed with a knife, barged in.

The thief locked the tenant in the balcony and made off with valuable objects.

The police have mounted a search for him.
