These localities include Attard, Mellieħa, Mġarr, Għargħur, Lija, St Julian's, Birgu, Isla, Paola, Qormi, Gudja, Luqa, Marsa, Marsaskala, Marsaxlokk, Santa Luċija, Santa Venera, Kirkop, Żurrieq, Għajnsielem, Għarb, Kerċem, Nadur, Qala, San Lawrenz, Sannat, Xewkija, and Żebbuġ.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government, Alison Zerafa Civelli, said that the Christmas activities will be staged with the financial support of around €400,000 from the Directorate for Local Government through the scheme for Local Councils for annual cultural activities. She added that the activities vary from Christmas villages, Christmas lights, concerts, activities for children and the elderly, activities related to traditional food, and also Bethlehem in Ghajnsielem in Gozo, along with various other activities.

Zerafa Civeli said that the program of activities that have been prepared by the local councils aims to keep Christmas and the traditions it brings present in local communities. She commented that these activities will be there to be enjoyed by the local residents as well as anyone visiting the locations, including tourists.

She continued that the local councils have organised "a number of beautiful activities around our villages and localities" with the main purpose of the activities being to offer the public a show and entertainment for free. She added that the government is committed to continuing its support for these types of activities which help in cultural growth.

The Parliamentary Secretary stated that the government will continue to work to raise the quality of life of the Maltese and Gozitans. She added that the Division for Local Government has strengthened the financial aid to local councils so that they, in turn, can raise the quality of activities such as these.

She concluded by wishing success to the local councils staging the activities, and encouraged people to attend and enjoy the Christmas festivities.
