The work cycle for the implementation of the budget measures by the Implementation Directorate within the Prime Minister's Office started after the publication of the budget for 2025, which listed more than 300 measures, the government said.
"The numbers of measures are expected to increase in the coming discussions with the Ministries through which further projects deriving from these measures will be identified. However, what the 2025 budget will offer can already be seen from this process."
"In addition, with the aim of further strengthening policy coherence for sustainable development, through collaboration with the Ministry for the Environment, Energy, and Grand Harbour Regeneration, the measures have all been aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a process that has been in place since 2019. In the coming days all Ministries will be asked to evaluate how these same measures are concretely contributing towards achieving the SDGs so as to ensure that the three pillars of sustainable development - environmental protection, a healthy economy and social development - are given priority in the work of Public Administration as a whole."
"This year we also saw a strengthening of social measures which amount to 62% of the Budget. In addition, 20% of the measures announced this year are environmental measures while 18% of the measures address economic development, as our country continues to move towards a green transition and a carbon-neutral economy."
The Government's fiscal policy through Budget 2025 has put emphasis on quality with the aim of improving the overall performance of the country in the respective sectors, the government said. "Now the task of the Public Administration is to coordinate a full programme of works for the measures' delivery as part of the accountability and transparency of the Public Service towards the citizen."
