Two elderly people grievously

Two elderly people were hit by a Ford Transit that was driven by a 49-year-old man from Żurrieq, the police said.

The accident occurred at 1pm on Triq Gort, St Julian's. The two pedestrians, a 77-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman, who both reside in Sliema, were taken to Mated Dei Hospital.

The two suffered grievous injuries.

Investigations are ongoing, the police said.
