An elderly woman was seriously injured on Wednesday morning when she was hit by a car in Zebbug, the police said.
The accident took place in Vjal il-Helsein at 8.45am.
The woman, aged 78 and resident in Zebbug, was hit by a Peugeot 307 driven by a 20-year-old Syrian man who also resides in the locality.
She was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Magistrate Joe Mifsud is leading an inquiry.
