ADPD has called on the Auditor General to investigate the alleged misuse of public funds by the Film Commission, the Malta Tourism Authority, and Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo.

The request was sent to the Auditor General through a letter from ADPD's Deputy Chairperson Carmel Cacopardo.

In the letter, Cacopardo drew the attention to the fact that at Manoel Island, after a substantial expenditure of public funds by the Film Commission, with financial support from the MTA, preparations and arrangements were made to organize the Film Festival once again.

Cacopardo said that however, before this was used for the intended festival, it was used by the Minister of Tourism Clayton Bartolo to celebrate his marriage to Amanda Muscat, his new wife.

"An extensive report on this was published in The Shift News yesterday," Cacopardo said, quoting the article.

Cacopardo said that this abuse of public funds as the expenditure made for a public purpose was used to celebrate a private event.

He asked the Auditor General to investigate the alleged abuse.
