President of the European Parlaiment Roberta Metsola noted how it is "almost ironic" that in a moment that requires leadership of steel, the country "is led by a Prime Minister defined by his inability to take a decision and marked by a weakness of character that risks derailing the country."

She added that "we are a proud nation with a people of iron will" who have overcome many challenges "who do not deserve the sad spectacle" of a Prime Minister drowning under the weight of his inability to lead a nation.

Metsola said that there are "exceptionally" good reasons why those charged with serious criminal offences should not be in positions of influence and this is obvious to every law-abiding citizen of our country.

She said that for partisan gain of "the shortest term" the Prime Minister is determined to drag the entire nation down with him adding that this is "the saddest political show" and a "theatre of the absurd" that the country has ever witnessed.

The Prime Minister reminds us that he can keep digging, she said. She said that whilst this should be shocking, the country has almost grown used to the lowest possible common denominator becoming the highest possible standard for Abela

Metsola believes that the country does not deserve to go through it all over again simply because the Prime Minister is facing a revolt inside his Cabinet and Party, and "revulsion" among people outside. She concluded with a call for urgent leadership of the country.
