Nationalist Party Leader Bernard Grech said that the Malta is going through a dangerous moment and that “if there is anyone who thinks we are happy with what is happening”, then they most definitely haven’t understood that Malta should have never had to suffer through the fraudulent Vitals contract in the first place.

During a political event in the run up to the MEP and local council elections, Grech said that “it is clear that there is one person who either cannot or does not want to understand what their behaviour means.”

Without pointing any fingers, Grech said that this with this behaviour, the same person will take Malta down with them.

He also said that Prime Minister Robert Abela should detach himself from his predecessor Joseph Muscat. Explaining this remark, he said that if this continues, it will mean that the Prime Minister is choosing power over the people and their health, attacking the judiciary, student organisations which are telling him not to attack the judiciary, and attacking “journalists who are just doing their job.”

The political event – which had been scheduled already - came after the PN walked out of Parliament because the Speaker turned down a motion to urge Parliament to discuss the urgency of the publication of the magisterial inquiry into the Vitals concession.

Commenting on the turned down motion, Grech said that it is clear that the Speaker of Parliament did not understand what he was asking for as the PN wants the public to know the details of the magisterial inquiry.

He said that it is also clear, from how Abela behaved in Parliament that “he does not want to discuss” the magisterial inquiry.

The PN leader also commented on the government cheque initiative and said that this is a result of a government which, once a year, remembers that the citizen is also suffering the consequences of the increasing cost of living – something which, he said, shouldn’t even be allowed to happen.
