The Nationalist Party has called for the shouldering of responsibility following media reports of a leak of personal information about thousands of voters, in breach of data protection.
Whilst the case is being investigated by the Data Protection Commissioner, Nationalist Party spokesperson Claudette Buttigieg pointed towards a private company with connections to Parliamentary Secretary Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, stating that for this reason his position is no longer tenable, and he should step down from his post.
Buttigieg further stated she expects the Data Protection Commissioner and the Police to exhaustively investigate this case in the shortest possible time, for all the truth to emerge about this issue and for justice to be done.
