Record low unemployment historic result says Calderone
Meloni government proud, progressing with confidence-labour min.
Labour and Social Policies Minister
Marina Calderone said the record low unemployment rate published
Tuesday by national statistics agency ISTAT was a historic
result which Premier Giorgia Meloni's government could proudly
claim as a result of its policies.
"The estimate released today by ISTAT reports the lowest
unemployment rate since 2004, which is now structurally below
the European average - a historic result which the Meloni
government can claim with pride", said Calderone in a note.
"Much still needs to be done for women's employment and
especially for the young but today's ISTAT figure shows how
stable jobs are growing while short-term" contracts are
"decreasing", added the minister.
Calderone also said the "numbers must be analysed with
attention, to move forward with renewed confidence and with
measures that are increasingly devoted to those who work and to
those who produce", she stressed.
The national statistics agency said Tuesday that the
unemployment rate in November dropped by 0.1 points to 5.7% on a
monthly basis, falling to the lowest level ever recorded since
the beginning of the historical series in 2004.
