Daughter's ex arrested in femicide of mum near Arezzo
Woman, 72, violently hit in the face with a stick
The 38-year-old Pakistani-Italian
former boyfriend of an Italian woman was arrested near Arezzo
Monday on suspicion of murdering her 72-year-old mother in a row
over his continued relationship with her daughter, police said.
The victim, Letizia Girolami, 72, was found lifeless in a field
in Foiano della Chiana near Arezzo.
The murder, according to investigators, "could be the epilogue
of an extremely tense situation in the family, and of conflict
with Girolami, over the relationship between the 38-year-old and
the woman's daughter".
The victim, a psychotherapist and spiritual psychologist, was
building 'spiritual ponds' when the man of Pakistani origin,
perhaps at the height of an argument, violently hit her in the
face, near one eye, with a stick found on the spot.
It is the latest in a string of femicides in Italy.
