Milan to appeal against Malpensa being named after ex-PM
Appeal could be filed as soon as next week
Milan's municipal government on
Friday said it has voted to appeal against the government's
decision in July to name Milan's Malpensa Airport after late
three-time premier and media mogul Silvio Berlusconi.
The appeal will be promoted together with the other
municipalities around Malpensa, Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala said
on Friday.
The municipal governments will appeal to Lombardy's regional
administrative court (TAR), possibly as soon as next week.
The transport ministry announced in July that Malpensa Airport
would be officially named after Berlusconi in a decision slammed
by Sala and leftwing parties who complained saying the former
premier, who died in June last year aged 86, was, and remains, a
divisive figure.
