'Ruini in intensive care but alert and stable'
Cleric, 93, admitted after suffering chest pain says Gemelli
Cardinal Camillo Ruini is in
intensive care after a suspected heart attack but alert and
stable, Rome's Gemelli Hospital said Sunday.
"Late yesterday evening Cardinal Camillo Ruini was urgently
admitted to the Gemelli Hospital for chest pain," said the
hospital after the 93-year-old ex Italian bishops chief was
rushed there Saturday night.
"In view of the cardinal's advanced age and clinical history,
admission to the cardiology intensive care unit was necessary,"
it said.
"The patient is alert and collaborating and his clinical
condition is currently stable.
"Monitoring and therapies continue".
The Gemelli did not confirm reports that Ruini had suffered a
heart attack.
