3,500-year-old 'canteen' discovered in Azerbaijan
Possibly used by nomadic peoples of south Caucacus
A 3500-year-old canteen, with pottery
crockery still in place and housings for braziers, probably used
by the nomadic peoples of the South Caucasus, has been
discovered by an Italian team of archaeologists in Azerbaijan.
the extraordinary discovery was made at Tava Tepe by a team of
archaeologists led by Professor Nicola Laneri, Professor of
Archaeology and Art History of the Ancient Near East at the
University of Catania, during a campaign conducted with the
contribution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Camnes
Institute of Florence and the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences.
The archaeologist will give a preview of the discovery on 12
July at the Naxos Archeofilm festival.
