New stop at Mirafiori from 15 July to 25 August
New redundancy fund July 15-Aug 4, inexorable layoffs say unions
The historic ex FIAT Mirafiori Turin
coachworks will stop again from 15 July to 25 August, and before
the summer break there will be a new redundancy fund from 15
July to 4 August, Stellantis told union delegates Friday as
reported by Fiom CGIL.
"We did not expect anything different," commented Edi Lazzi,
secretary general of Fiom CGIL of Turin, and Gianni Mannori,
head of Fiom for Mirafiori, "and so it is not surprising that
another long period of stop has been communicated, despite the
(government car buying) incentives, which we have always said
would not be needed without new models to produce."
Government incentives to help buy new and greener cars have been
snapped up by Italians.
Work at Mirafiori has been stop-go for months.
