(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 23 - A reference to the gas-price cap that
Italian Premier Mario Draghi is calling for in the light of
soaring energy prices following Russia's invasion of Ukraine has
been included in a draft of the conclusions of this week's EU
summit, which ANSA has seen.
The draft said that, as part of the fight against "the use of gas as a weapon by Russia," the European Commission was called on to "pursue efforts to ensure energy supplies at accessible prices".
Italian Ecological Transition Minister Roberto Cingolani said that the "fact that a cap is being mooted" was acting as a "deterrent" to markets against setting "out-of-control" prices.
