The former Fiorentina and Juventus player Mohamed Sissoko has decided to hang up his boots and quit football at the age of 34.

The former Mali international leaves behind a long career with spells at clubs like Auxerre, Valencia, Liverpool, PSG and Levante.

His latest experience came at Sochaux in the French Ligue 2.

“I’m here to tell you it’s over,” he told RMC Sport 1. “I will end my footballing career. It was a decision I found very difficult to accept.

“Football is my life. But it’s the right decision”.

In Serie A, he played 76 games and scored three times during spells at Juventus and Fiorentina. The 34-year-old was brought to the Old Lady from Liverpool in January 2008 and played for Juventus until July 2011.

He was then sold to Paris Saint-Germain but returned to Italy after only 18 months in the French capital.

The midfielder went on to play five games for Fiorentina in the 2012-13 season, before he was released by Les Parisiens when he returned from Florence.

Sissoko also played one game for Ternana in Serie B during 2016-17.

Politano close to Roma?

Politano close to Roma?

Inter have left Matteo Politano out of the squad against Cagliari in the Coppa Italia, igniting the rumours of a proposed move to Roma.

Alfredo Pedulla from SportItalia writes that “it’s a clear signal” that Politano is on his way to the Giallorossi this winter and expects the Nerazzurri midfielder to swap clubs very soon.

Roma have allegedly been working hard to get a deal with Inter, as they have targeted the 26-year-old as a replacement for the injured Nicolò Zaniolo.

Yesterday, Gianluca Di Marzio pointed towards a swap deal including Leonardo Spinazzola, as they are both valued at €25m.

But the amount could also decrease to €20m if Inter doesn’t agree on a direct swap deal. The Nerazzurri are reportedly also asking for a buy-back clause in the deal with the Giallorossi.

The latest development sparks new rumours about the Italy international, who's path seemingly leads to Rome.

Report: Murillo on Celta radar

Report: Murillo on Celta radar

Celta Vigo have reportedly targeted Sampdoria outcast Jeison Murillo as their new defender this winter.

After arriving on loan from Valencia, the defender could be heading back to Spain already after only playing 10 games this campaign.

Claudio Ranieri has decided against playing the Colombia international, after handing him the right-back position during his two first games in charge.

Since October 30, the 27-year-old has been limited to a mere 139 minutes for the Blucerchiati and now he is allegedly a transfer target in La Liga.

Alfredo Pedulla reports that Celta have been monitoring the former Inter player and are trying to bring him back to Spain after only six months at the Marassi.

Sampdoria have an option to buy the player for €12m in July, the Sport Italia journalist reveals he could be on his way out the door before the proposed permanent move to Samp.
