R. Kelly has once again hit the headlines this week after the docu-series, Surviving R. Kelly, claimed he has founded an 'abusive cult' of women he allegedly uses as sex slaves.

The rapper - whose real name is Robert Kelly - denies all the claims, and is now being investigated by police in the US.

But outside of the Lifetime programme's dark allegations, another talking point has surfaced - and that's his long-forgotten musical soap opera, Trapped In The Closet.

He launched the bizarre series in 2005, with each episode featuring the same backing music while Kelly sang the narrative on top.

R Kelly promised the world 53 chapters of the bizarre show
One instalment showed him hide in the closet after a lover's husband came home

One told the tale of a pastor who was outed as gay after his wife caught him on a call to his dying lover.

Another saw Kelly hide in the closet after spending the night with a married woman whose husband returned home.

He watched the spouses get down and dirty
Trapped in the Closet attracted a cult following

His mistress and her spouse are shown getting down and dirty in front of him before his mobile goes off and the husband smells a rat.

The first chapter got to number 22 in the US charts, and he billed his 2007 follow-up as "the year's biggest pop culture event."

He promised there would be 53 chapters in total, but they somehow petered off.
