Irish mum's heartbreak as son found dead in flat - the third of her children to die
Damien Kavanagh, 36, was found in his flat in Carmarthenshire, Wales - his mother Christine has already lost two other sons
Christine Kavanagh from Cork is mourning the loss of a son for a third tragic time, as the body of her son Damien is set to be repatriated from Wales where he was found dead in his flat on Wednesday.
The 36 year-old moved to Wales in 2019. Christine has previously endured the heartache of losing two sons; Ross at 31 died in 2016 due to a suspected epilepsy-related incident, and another son Leon, also 31, passed away five years later.
"I don't think I could take any more," an emotionally shattered Christine confessed on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork’s RedFM.

"My heart is broken," she poured out her grief, saying "Our world has ended. Our hearts are crushed."
She fondly recalled the life her son Damien had created for himself in Wales: "He got clean, everything going for him, got a beautiful apartment," reports Cork Beo.
Regrettably, she never visited Damien in Wales, although she had planned to this month. "I'd always be saying, Damien, I will come over. He'd be saying, Mam, you always say that," Christine revealed.
Now, with the assistance from the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust (KBRT), Damien will finally make his journey home. She told a touching anecdote from their last conversation over Christmas, "I was onto him the week of Christmas and I said, Damien, I got Botox - and he said, Mam, you're 65. And he was laughing."
The exact cause of Damien's death has not yet been officially confirmed.
Before his untimely passing, Damien had expressed his admiration for his mother's resilience, calling her "the strongest woman" amidst the family's trials. In her grief, Christine wishes to "thank everyone" for their outpouring of support following her son's death.
Colin Bell, founder of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust (KBRT), has assured that they will bring Damien home: "we will be able to get [Christine's] son home, certainly. That's what we're here for."
Established after the tragic loss of Colin's own son Kevin in New York in 2013, KBRT has since helped repatriate the bodies of 2,035 Irish nationals, with up to eight current cases being handled worldwide.
