SuperValu issues urgent recall for popular snack that could make you sick
SuperValu has issued an allergen alert for certain batches of a 'Signature Taste' snack. They contain undeclared ingredients, which could pose a health risk to anyone with intolerances.
SuperValu has pulled batches of a popular snack item from sale after they were found to be mispacked. An urgent alert has been issued for certain packs of the supermarket's 'Signature Tastes Greek Feta and Pasta Salad'.
The affected items were mistakenly packed with coleslaw, which contains the ingredients egg and mustard - two allergens not listed on the product label.
Anyone with allergies or intolerances to egg or mustard is advised to avoid consuming the affected products as they could make you sick.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland said: "The above implicated batches of SuperValu Signature Tastes Greek Feta and Pasta Salad were mispacked with coleslaw. The coleslaw product contains egg and mustard, which are not declared in the ingredients list on the label of the Greek Feta and Pasta Salad. This may make the implicated batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of egg and/or mustard."

The affected items come in the size 240g and have use by dates of 15/01/2025 and 17/01/2025.
Egg is one of the most common allergens in Ireland, and reactions can vary from mild to severe. Symptoms of an egg allergy may include skin rashes or hives, nasal congestion, digestive issues like nausea or vomiting and in some cases, asthma-like symptoms. A severe reaction could lead to anaphylaxis, a life-threatening condition requiring immediate medical attention.
Similarly, those with a mustard allergy can experience symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, skin rashes, nausea and swelling of the lips, tongue or face. In extreme cases, mustard allergies can also trigger anaphylaxis, a severe reaction that causes dangerous swelling of the throat and a drop in blood pressure, which requires emergency treatment.
Consumers who purchased the affected batches are advised to return the product or dispose of it immediately.
