President Michael D Higgins has led the tributes congratulating Colin Farrell on winning a Golden Globe award.
Dubliner Farrell took home the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series at the awards ceremony in California on Sunday night for his role in the DC Comics adaptation The Penguin.
Leading the congratulations, President Higgins tweeted on the social media platform X: “Congratulations to Colin Farrell on his Golden Globe award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television." President Higgins also congratulated Irish star Andrew Scott for his nomination in the same category.

Tánaiste Micheál Martin has also congratulated Farrell, saying: “A deserved award for a brilliant actor.”
Taking to X, Mr Martin tweeted: “Congratulations to Colin Farrell on winning Best Actor at the Golden Globes for his outstanding performance in The Penguin. A deserved award for a brilliant actor."
This is Farrell’s third Golden Globe win, having previously won for his performances in The Banshees of Inisherin and In Bruges.
