Father of Willie Maughan confident remains of missing son and his partner will be found in 2025
Exclusive: Ten years since Willie Maughan and his partner Anna were abducted and murdered, Willie’s heartbroken father Joe said he feels ‘confident’ this year will be the year the couple’s remains will be found
The father of missing man William Maughan and his partner Anna feels ‘confident’ that this year is the year they will find the couple’s remains.
Willie, 34, and his pregnant partner Anna Varslavane, 21, went missing ten years ago on April 14, 2015 near Gormanston, Co Meath. They are believed to have been abducted and murdered. So far, no trace of the couple’s bodies have ever been found despite numerous searches and digs.
The couple had been living in a caravan at depraved criminal Cornelius Price’s compound and were planning on moving back to Willie’s family home in Tallaght on the day they went missing.

Notorious Drogheda gang boss Price, 41, is suspected of having the couple murdered because he believed they had key information about his gang’s activities, including the murder of Benny Whitehouse in Balbriggan in November 2014.
Last November, Gardaí conducted a four-day search of open bog land at Ring Commons in Balrothery, north County Dublin, adjacent to land once owned by dead mobster Cornelius Price, after they received new information. However, that search and excavation was stood down and nothing of evidential value was found.
Now, ten years since the couple were abducted and murdered, Willie’s heartbroken father Joe said he feels ‘confident’ this year will be the year the couple’s remains will be found.
“Hopefully this will be the year we find Willie and Anna. I feel 100 per cent confident that someone might give us the information where they are and clear their conscience,” Joe said, speaking exclusively to the Irish Mirror.
“I feel some people will find it in their hearts to clear their conscience and come clean and then we can finally give Willie and Anna a proper burial.”
He said any person who knows where the couple are buried “don’t have to identify themselves,” but wants them to “contact Gardaí and just leave a marker or a map as to where they are and clear their conscience”.
Mobster Price - who was heavily involved in organised crime and suspected of being responsible for at least six murders - died from a brain disease in a Welsh hospital in February 2023. He never confessed his involvement in the double murder of the couple.
Price was behind much of the chaos in the lethal Drogheda feud that claimed four lives and fled to the UK in 2020 from his “enclave for criminality” fortified compound in Gormanston, Co Meath shortly after the gruesome murder and dismemberment of Drogheda teen Keane Mulready-Woods.
