With so many people sharing their New Year's resolutions for the year ahead, it can be a real challenge to stay true to your own goal for 2025 without getting swayed by everyone else's.

It's hard not to feel pressured when you see folks on Instagram flaunting their new health kicks, workout plans, and self-improvement reads, all in the name of making 2025 their year.

But remember, your path is unique, and your choices should benefit you first and foremost. TikTok influencer Arina Negishi has dropped a video with seven life-altering resolutions, captioning it: "Energy flows where intention goes".

Top of Arina's list for the new year is to "stop wishing you were someone else". She also suggests having "weekly check-ins with family and friends" to stay connected, reports the Mirror.

Plus, she's big on "committing to a healthier sleeping routine", a tip that's backed by the HSE, which says: "Having a regular sleep routine has significant benefits in terms of our mental well-being and brain health. Getting up at a regular time each day, even if tired at first, regulates our sleep-wake cycle, helping us feel more alert during the day and sleepy at night."

Adults should aim for seven to nine hours of shut-eye each night, and if you're struggling, here are some tips to consider for 2025.

  • Have a good sleep routine (sleep hygiene)
  • Relax, unwind, and try meditation to help you sleep
  • Try mindfulness for sleep
  • Create the right environment for sleep
  • Do not force sleep
  • Improve sleep through diet and exercise

Arina also suggested trying something new each month, whether that's a new breakfast smoothie or taking up a new hobby like painting with friends. She recommended writing down what you plan to do each month to ensure you stick to it.

Arina also emphasised the importance of self-care, suggesting that you take 10 minutes a day for activities such as a power walk, meditation, or a skincare routine. She advised against looking at your phone first thing in the morning, recommending journaling instead.

The Morning Pages technique, a stream-of-consciousness journaling practice created by Julia Cameron, could be a good option.

Arina also highlighted the importance of "speaking kindly to yourself" because negative self-talk is not welcome anymore. Speak to yourself as you would a friend.
