Heartache for Millwall and Ireland striker as injury lay-off details confirmed
Aidomo Emakhu underwent a scan at the weekend for a groin injury that he suffered in last Thursday’s 2-1 defeat to Norwich.
Millwall striker Aidomo Emakhu has been dealt a bitter blow in his bid to nail down a first-team spot at the Championship side.
The Dubliner picked up a groin injury early in last Thursday’s defeat to Norwich City and missed Sunday’s scoreless draw at Coventry as he awaited the results of a scan.
Those results have returned with some bad news for the 12-time capped Ireland Under-21 international.

He will miss the first two months of new manager Alex Neil’s reign, with doctors advising the 21-year-old that he won’t return to action until the latter part of February.
Emakhu was making his second consecutive start under caretaker boss David Livermore, after impressing in the previous game - a 1-0 win against Blackburn Rovers.
His previous nine appearances in the league this season, under old boss Neil Harris, had been as a substitute.
Livermore had hailed Emakhu’s display against Blackburn, saying: “I’m delighted for him. He’s a really good kid, he works really hard. He’s got a lot of really good qualities.
“He’s got a lot of areas to improve on as well and he knows that, and we’ll work with him to do that. But I was really, really pleased for him today, really delighted for him.”
The former Shamrock Rovers youngster had hoped to build on his performances under the caretaker boss, but now faces a new year fitness battle, before he sets out to impress Neil.
The ex-Preston and Stoke boss’s appointment was confirmed on Monday morning, although Neil had been in the stands to watch the Coventry game.
Millwall's director of football Steve Gallen, who had considered Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley for the role, hailed the appointment.
He said: “Ultimately, Alex has an excellent track record in the Championship for results and development of young talent, as well as many other attributes that we feel confident will drive us forward as a club.”
