'The show goes on': Dublin Garda snap into action after Dutch DJ has backpack stolen
A man in his 20s was arrested after Dutch DJ Marijn Van Vliet had his laptop and passport stolen ahead of his gig at the Academy in Dublin
Gardaí jumped into action to assist a Dutch DJ set to perform in the capital on Saturday night, after a thief snatched his backpack with laptop inside.
Marijn Van Vliet was in Dublin from the Netherlands to perform his DJ set at Dublin's Academy but his backpack, which contained his laptop and his passport, was nabbed as he sat on a bench.

Garda Aine Redmond and Sergeant Chris Jones were on the beat in the area and snapped into action to help the DJ.
Thankfully, a person matching the description provided by Marijn was stopped on Eden Quay, and it was apparent that he was concealing items so he was arrested. Back at the station a short time later, Marijn's laptop, backpack and passport were returned just in time for his gig.
“Marijn Van Vliet is in town from the Netherlands to perform his DJ set at Dublin's Academy later tonight,” Gardaí wrote in a post on Instagram.
“His backpack was snatched earlier today as he sat on a bench and wasn't his laptop with his set on it for tonight in the backpack along with his passport.
“In a panic, he quickly reported it to us at Store Street Garda Station and had a clear description of the person that took it.
“Garda Aine Redmond and Sergeant Chris Jones were on the beat in the area and heard the details come through on their radios.
“A person matching the description provided by the victim was stopped on Eden Quay, and it was apparent that he was concealing items from both Gardaí so he was arrested.
“Back at the station a short time later, Marijn's laptop, backpack and passport were returned. The show goes on.”
Gardaí confirmed to the Irish Mirror that a man, aged in his 20s, was arrested and charged in relation to this matter. He will appear before court at a later date.
