Gardai are appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash that happened in Flowerhill, Navan, Co Meath on Friday night. A pedestrian lost his life following the collision.

A man aged in his 60s has died following a crash in Co Meath late last night. Gardai say a car collided with a pedestrian at Flowerhill in Navan around 10.40pm.

The pedestrian was fatally injured and his body has since been removed to the Mortuary in Our Lady's Hospital, Navan where a post-mortem will take place.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 60s, was uninjured.

Gardai have closed the road at Flowerhill for a forensic collision investigation and local diversions are in place.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at Flowerhill, Navan, Co. Meath last night Friday 27th December, 2024 at approximately 10.40pm.

"A car collided with a male pedestrian at Flowerhill, Navan, Co. Meath. The male pedestrian, aged in his 60s was fatally injured as a result of the collision. His body has been removed from the scene and has been taken to the Mortuary in Our Lady's Hospital, Navan where a post mortem will take place in due course. The male driver (aged in his 60s) of the car was uninjured.

"The road at Flowerhill, Navan, Co. Meath is currently closed and local diversions are in place. A Garda technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will take place this morning.

"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to Gardaí. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Navan Garda Station on 046 907 9930, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
