Former Shelbourne defender makes First Division move with Athlone Town
JR Wilson played for Shelbourne under Damien Duff before joining Sligo Rovers last year
Athlone Town have sealed a St Stephen's Day swoop for fullback JR Wilson.
The 25-year-old Dubliner makes the move from Sligo Rovers where he was a regular in the Bit O'Red side last season, starting in 30 Premier Division appearances.
Before his move to the Showgrounds, Wilson played at Shelbourne under Damien Duff. His brother Tyreke won the league title with the Reds in 2024.

Athlone made it to the First Division playoff final this year, losing out to Bray Wanderers in a thriller at Dalymount Park, but manager Dario Castelo is targeting promotion next season.
