Christmas baby joy at Ireland's maternity hospitals

THERE was plenty to celebrate across maternity hospitals on Christmas Day with parents welcoming new additions to their families.
Among the first of the little arrivals to make their appearance was a baby boy delivered to parents Maga Harika Gutha and Phani Kumar Kodali.
The little bundle of joy - who hasn’t been named just yet - was delivered at 1.18am at the Coombe Hospital and weighed 2.89kg.

At University Maternity Hospital Limerick, JJ Barry made his arrival at 1.39am weighing in at 3.2kgs to proud mum Mairead Barry, from Broadford, Co Limerick.
Maria Pletea gave birth to a baby boy at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin.
Maria and her husband Florian, from Citywest, Dublin, named the boy Cassian. He weighed 3.63kg on arrival.
Three babies were born between midnight and 8am at Cork University Maternity Hospital.
Baby Orla, delivered at 2.28am and weighing 4.01 kgs, was born to parents Nicola and Richard Hobson, from Bantry, Co Cork.
While at University Hospital Kerry, a baby boy was born to Emily Lloyd and Sean Deeney, from Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick. The infant, yet to be named, weighed 3.07kg.
Last Christmas Day, 75 babies – 38 boys and 37 girls – were born in the State, according to figures released by the Central Statistics Office.
