Seamus Coleman is unlikely to feature on Sunday for Everton against Manchester United, but the veteran Ireland defender is not too far away from returning to action in the Premier League.

That’s according to Toffees boss Sean Dyche, who posted a positive update on the 36-year-old’s status ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.

Coleman has been out of action since the 2-0 defeat to England at the Aviva Stadium on September 7, when he injured his ankle in a tangle with Harry Maguire.

The Donegal native missed the rest of Ireland’s Nations League campaign, while he hasn’t featured for Everton since the October 31 defeat to Bournemouth.

It won’t be long before he is back, however, with Dyche confirming that Coleman was back in training with the rest of his teammates.

“Seamus is back out on the grass with us,” he said. “Probably won’t be enough for this weekend but he’s showing signs of getting truly fit after an up-and-down time with niggly injuries.”

Dyche is also missing midfielders James Garner (back) and Tim Iroegbunam (foot) for the Red Devils clash, but there is better news on former Chelsea man Armando Broja.

He hasn’t featured since his transfer deadline day move to Everton, but he could feature in the matchday squad on Sunday.
