EXCLUSIVE: Producers will be scouting some of Ireland's castle for filming
RTE’s new show Traitors Ireland could be filmed in iconic rock venue Slane Castle.
The owners of Slane Castle – Lord Henry Mountcharles and his son Alex - have said they’re open for discussions with TV producers to use the legendary venue for Traitors Ireland, which will come to our screens next year.
We have learned the show will begin filming next March and April over two weeks with “all walks of life” welcome to apply.

In October, RTE announced it had acquired the rights to air the Irish version of the hit UK show, which is hosted by Claudia Winkleman.
The broadcaster is seeking a batch of traitors and hopefuls for the new TV show while producers scout out a possible castle in Ireland to host the show.
Alex said he would love it if producers considered the iconic Co Meath venue for the show.
He told us: “Absolutely is the short answer. We already do a bit of filming stuff and so we would be very open to that."
Slane Castle is currently hosting Enchanted Kingdom which runs until January 2025.
It is understood telly royalty Lucy Kennedy is in line to host of the show.
Lucy told us how she wasn’t sure if her Virgin Media hit show Living With Lucy would return in the new year, saying she was in discussions about hosting a “light entertainment reality type show”.
The popular Classic Hits host told us at the time: “I can’t tell you what it is but there is interest in it. It is essentially like a light entertainment reality type show. Out and about. It’s very me and a bit of craic.
“Ideally what I’d love to do is a new programme and Living with Lucy. I don’t want it to be a case that I’m just doing one thing so I need to make sure whether it is Virgin or RTE or wherever, that there is a good chunk of work there for me.”
The Traitors Ireland will see the reality TV programme will see a group of contestants split into "traitors" and "faithfuls" as both groups try to win a share of up to €50,000 in what the BBC calls "the ultimate reality game of detection, backstabbing and trust."
The season two final that aired in January in the UK saw a peak audience of 6.9 million tune in.
Dublin-based production company Kite Entertainment and RTE are bringing the show in Ireland following its major success in the UK, the US, and its original home of the Netherlands. Claudia Winkleman hosts the UK edition, while Alan Cumming helms the Emmy Award-winning US version.
RTE’s Commissioning Editor for Documentaries and Series Grainne McAleer said: "We’re confident that Traitors Ireland will be just as thrilling. We’re looking for dynamic contestants who can outwit, out-schmooze, and outplay the others."
Kite Entertainment’s Managing Director Darren Smith added: "We’ve been fans of the original Dutch format and are thrilled to bring it to Irish screens. Now, we’re on the hunt for the perfect castle, cast, and host!"
RTE and Kite Entertainment are now seeking participants for the series which will be shot on location in Ireland and broadcast on RTE One and the RTE Player in 2025. Participants must be over 18 and available in Spring 2025.
Potential applicants can see www.rte.ie/traitors for further details on how to apply.
