Comedian Jason Byrne is set to play a crime boss in a special Christmas episode of The Young Offenders.
The Dubliner is set to appear in a one-off episode, according to the British Comedy Guide.
Shot earlier this year, the stand-up's guest role as the frightening Jack Hammer was specifically penned for him by the BBC sitcom's creator Peter Foott and the writing team.

Airing on BBC One on December 20, the episode is set on Christmas Eve, with Conor (Alex Murphy), a pregnant Mairéad (Hilary Rose) and Sgt Healy (Dominic MacHale) preparing for the imminent new arrival.
Conor wants only the best for his mother. But he's still a novice at housework, including washing. So Mairéad decides to give him lessons, clearing out his wash-basket, only to find that Conor is holding something for a "friend".
Unfortunately, that friend turns out to be Hammer, the only person in the world that local nutter Billy Murphy (Shane Casey) is afraid of.
