Maura Higgins' toe-curling reunion with Love Island ex Curtis Pritchard captured in brutal footage

I’m A Celebrity star Maura Higgins and her ex-boyfriend Curtis Pritchard have had a painfully awkward reunion.
Maura, 33, and Curtis, 28, met and got together on Love Island back in 2019. The couple dated for nine months after the show but then suffered a dramatic break-up, with rumours surfacing that Curtis cheated on his then-girlfriend. Much like how the beginning of their relationship was broadcast to the nation, their reunion was again caught on camera.
Curtis took part in the current series of Love Island Games, which brings together former islanders from across the globe to grant them another opportunity to find love. Curtis was booted off of the show, and went through a parting interview - with his ex Maura.

In a clip from the reunion, the exes were shown standing awkwardly as they waited for the interview to begin. Breaking the silence, Curtis asked how Maura’s family was, but the duo fell silent again after she confirmed that they were "good."
The official interview then began, with Maura introducing: "Hello everyone I'm now joined by our next Islander to leave the villa, who is the lovely Lisa's couple, Curtis."
She and Curtis both started chuckling awkwardly, before Maura said "Long time no see Curtis," as her former boyfriend cringed.
Maura then went for the jugular, and hinted that Curtis might have been playing games with his partner Lisa Celander. "You were coupled up with Lisa, but you were clearly getting to know some of the other girls, there was a lot of flirting going on," she said as Curtis ducked his head.
Curtis admitted that he came out of the villa with "regrets" and should have considered recoupling with Justine Ndiba. Hearing this, Maura turned to the camera and announced: "He still has no balls, guys!"
"And she would know!" Curtis said, pointing at Maura as she couldn’t control her laughter. "Savage," Curtis proclaimed, as he mimed stabbing himself in the heart.
Over on Twitter, some fans praised Maura for her sassy handling of the situation. "I only know Maura from the clip of her annihilating Curtis so looking forward to seeing more from her! #ImACeleb," one person wrote.
Beyond her reunion with Curtis, lots of I’m a Celeb viewers have predicted that even by escaping to the jungle Maura won’t escape another awkward run-in concerning a past relationship.
The Irish beauty arrived on the show on Thursday night, but hasn’t yet spent proper time with the other contestants. Many fans were quick to point out that Barry McGuigan is also on the show, and that Maura dated his son, Shane, prior to finding fame on Love Island. The couple met at a David Haye vs Tony Bellew boxing rematch in 2018, when Maura was working as a ring girl. While she’s currently spending most of her time with the jungle’s other new arrival, Reverend Richard Coles, a meeting with her ex’s dad is inevitable.
