Katie Taylor rival defends Eddie Hearn over in-ring celebrations
Hearn did not serve as an official promoter on the night but was part of Taylor's team.
Claressa Shields has defended Eddie Hearn after his celebrations following Katie Taylor’s win over Amanda Serrano, urging the promoter to not apologise.
Not an official promoter for the fight on Friday, Hearn was still in attendance as part of Katie Taylor’s team.
And with the Bray boxer coming out as the unanimous winner, Hearn and Taylor’s team were understandably ecstatic.

However, Hearn came out publicly to apologise for his celebrations.
Speaking to IFL TV, he said: “I wasn't allowed in the ring, and Katie requested I be in the rin,g and when she did, he said okay. I wanted her to win really bad.
“It's the passion of the moment, and I probably went a little OTT with my reaction if I'm honest, and if I offended anyon,e I apologise that's just men.
“I know a lot of people will watch that with me celebrating and say he's a knob and he's this and tha,t and some will say it's great and love i,t but it's real. There's no fake, that's just all heart.”
And Claressa Shields, who is top of the boxing pound-for-pound rankings, defended Hearn.
Posting on X, she said: “Why is @EddieHearn apologizing for celebrating his fighter that he promotes winning??? Serrano team would’ve went crazy too!”
Taylor has overtaken Amanda Serrano in ESPN's women's pound-for-pound rankings following her win over the Puerto Rican last week.
Taylor defeated Serrano by unanimous decision at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with the three judges all scoring the bout 95-94 in her favour. The victory saw the undisputed super lightweight champion retain the belts she won against Chantelle Cameron almost a year ago.
