Jake Paul may have to give Mike Tyson $5million after the ring legend made it past the fourth round of their fight.

Paul was taken the eight-round distance by the 58-year-old heavyweight legend on Friday night before being given the nod on points.

Paul had promised before the fight to knock out the former undisputed world champion but ultimately admitted to taking it easy on Tyson.

But that may come at a cost after Paul offered his rival a $5m wager before the fight. "Mikey, Mikey, if you can last more than four rounds with me, I’ll give you an extra $5m," Paul said. "But, if you don’t…then you have to get a tattoo that says, ‘I love Jake Paul '."

Tyson suggested upping the wager to $20m but did not respond publicly to Paul's offer. Paul also struck several pre-fight bets with undercard fighters who had backed Tyson to beat him, including Neeraj Goyat who had put his $1m house in India up as collateral.

Katie Taylor also backed Tyson and suggested to Paul that they bet their purses which would have seen her lose millions after the YouTuber had his hand raised. But Paul admitted he had not made the bets official and would not be asking for his money.

At no point in the fight did Paul, who claimed he would earn $40m from the event, look like stopping Tyson. And at no point did Tyson look anything like the fighter he did in his training videos, never mind the fighter once known as The Baddest Man on the Planet.

And Tyson later revealed he almost died in the build-up to the fight and that he would be retiring, contradicting a claim he made after the fight when he suggested he would fight on.

"This is one of those situations when you lost but still won," he said. "I’m grateful for [Friday] night and have no regrets about getting in the ring one last time.

"I almost died in June; I had eight blood transfusions. I lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won. To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for."

It was announced on Saturday that more than 60m households streamed the main event on Netflix, which caused the streaming giant to crash several times.

The fight's gate, meanwhile, surpassed $18m, double the previous Texas gate record for combat sports in both boxing and MMA, topping Canelo Alvarez's record of $9m.
