Man Utd target Premier League star wanted by Liverpool as Ruben Amorim's first signing
Ruben Amorim will oversee his first transfer window since joining Manchester United in January - and he may have to battle an old rival to land his first signing
Manchester United and Liverpool have both 'made enquiries' for Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez.
The Cherries have been on an upward trajectory since appointing Andoni Iraola as their head coach last summer and are looking to build on a best-ever 12th placed finish in the Premier League last season.
Iraola's men have continued in that vein of form this term and have already claimed the scalps of Arsenal and Manchester City. But the former of some of their star players, including Kerkez, has not gone unnoticed.
Kerkez has impressed since moving to Bournemouth in July 2023 and the Hungary international, 21, is now being eyed by some of the league's top sides.
A new report from Relevo has revealed that both United and Liverpool are keen on the left-back, who cost the Cherries just £15.5million. And while no figure is quoted in the report, it's likely Bournemouth would demand a far greater sum for a player who is nowhere near his peak years.
Manchester United have been forced to play Diogo Dalot, a right-back by trade, on the left-hand side this season due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, the latter of whom is now back in the fold after a 17-month injury lay-off.
And it's been reported that Liverpool are searching for a long-term successor to Andy Robertson, who has struggled to find his best form this season.

The Red Devils have also been linked with Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies as they start planning for their first transfer window under new head coach, Ruben Amorim.
It remains to be seen whether or not the former Sporting Lisbon coach will be given cash to spend in January after succeeding Erik ten Hag. But whether it's the winter transfer window or next summer, Kerkez is very much the type of profile United's powerbrokers are keen to move for in the future.
Kerkez impressed in Bournemouth's recent triumph over City and was singled out by Iraola post-match after assisting both of the team's goals.
He said: "For me it’s very important how he closed the game because a lot of times we’ve had to sub him because he was not finishing with the same energy. I think he’s adding these small things to his game to finish strong, do your job defensively, suffer even when you are tired and the team needs you there."
