Oppo's Find X flagship smartphone returns to Ireland after two-year hiatus in time for Christmas
Final major smartphone release of 2024 is a surprise that could propel Oppo back into the Irish tech premier league
Just when you thought that we had seen the last of the major 2024 smartphone launches, along comes news of an event in Paris later this month, starring Oppo Find X8 Pro.
Smartphone fans will be thrilled to learn that Oppo has confirmed its acclaimed flagship handset, the latest in the Find X series, is returning to Ireland and the rest of the EU along with the UK.
The innovative tech firm, which also owns the OnePlus brand, has announced that the highly anticipated Find X8 Series and ColorOS 15 will be introduced globally on November 21 at an event in Paris.

It’s the first major flagship smartphone launch from Oppo in Ireland since the Find X5 Pro was one of the best smartphones released in 2022.
Perhaps we should have known this was on the cards when earlier this year Oppo launched the mid-range model Oppo Reno 12 Pro 5G in Ireland.
Its most recent Find X releases only went on sale in China but that does not mean the firm did not continue to innovate. According to the lab testers at DXOMark, Oppo Find X7 Pro from 2023 is still the fourth best camera smartphone system in the world, trailing the more recent releases Honor Magic 6 Pro and Google Pixel 9 Pro XL by just one point in the global smartphone camera ranking.
With that in mind, there is much excitement building across the EU over the re-emergence of the Oppo flagship range.
Oppo said it is proud to bring the series' premium model, the all-new Find X8 Pro, to Europe as it was crafted to redefine excellence in flagship smartphones.
Oppo Find X8 Pro key features
Oppo Find X8 Pro features an ultra-immersive 6.78in display, with quad-curved glass on both sides. The device also marks the debut of Oppo’s dual-periscope telephoto camera for global markets. Find X8 Pro is available in Space Black and Pearl White, with each Pearl White device featuring a unique pearlescent pattern – no two devices are the same.
Find X8 Pro also carries on the Find X line’s tradition of breakthrough camera innovation, thanks to the inclusion of Oppo’s latest Hasselblad Master Camera System and AI Telescope Zoom. The device also includes Lightning Snap, which takes up to seven photos every second without compromising on flagship-grade photo processing.
Oppo Find X8 Pro is equipped with a 5910mAh silicon-carbon battery that is larger than almost every other 2024 flagship phone power pack apart from Asus Rog Phone 8 Pro and RedMagic 9S Pro.
Under the hood is the latest-generation MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip running the new ColorOS 15 software (based on Android 15) which the firm said perfectly complements the Find X8 Pro. Its seamless visuals, intuitive elements, and clever time-saving AI tools should put everything you need at your fingertips.
What has been said
Pete Lau, SVP and Chief Product Officer at Oppo, said; “Until now, flagship camera phones with ultra-zoom, power, battery life and AI tools have been weighed down by thick, heavy designs, but Find X8 Series changes the game. Oppo Find X8 Pro, in particular, takes zoom further, delivering ultra-grade experiences without the bulk. With ColorOS 15’s smart and smooth experience, Find X8 Series is set to mark an exciting shift for the smartphone industry.”
Pricing and availability
Full details about Oppo Find X8 Pro and ColorOS 15 will be revealed at the upcoming Paris launch on November 21, 2024. It is expected that the new phone will be on sale just in time for the Christmas gift season.
The device will be on sale in Ireland from the Oppo website.
