Liverpool fans admit they are 'lucky' to have Caoimhin Kelleher still after the Ireland goalkeeper played a starring role in their win over Aston Villa.

With number one shot-stopper Alisson injured, Kelleher has been entrusted with net-minding duties and showed his class yet again on Saturday night.

The Anfield outfit extended their lead at the top of the table to five points after beating Aston Villa 2-0.

Kelleher played his part with a number of stellar saves and was assured in nets. And Liverpool fans have admitted they are 'lucky' to have him still.

The Corkman was looking for a move away during the summer when Liverpool signed Giorgi Mamardashvili in a big money move ahead of Arne Slot's arrival.

Kelleher, who turns 26 at the end of this month, is looking for first-team football and now appears to fall to third in the pecking order, with Mamardashvili arriving in 2025.

But fans were full of praise for the shot-stopper.

Taking to social media, one Liverpool fan: "Another exceptional performance from Caoimhin Kelleher."

While another said: "We are so lucky to still have Kelleher in goals."

And another added: "Kelleher is genuinely outstanding."

It has been a dream start for Liverpool under Slot with the side winning nine of their first 11 games. And after Manchester City's loss to Brighton, they are five points at the top of the table.
