YouTube star Spanian brands Dublin 'a s**t city' in scathing review of the Irish capital
The popular social media star was left far from impressed following a two-day trip to Dublin for his latest travel vlog
An Australian YouTube star known for his travel vlogs has branded Dublin a 's**t city' following a recent trip to the Irish capital.
Anthony Lees, who is better known by his nickname Spanian, has built up a large following on the video sharing platform with his documentary-style vlogs which sees him visit struggling suburbs around the world.
The Sydney-native's videos involve him holding a GoPro in his hand as he documents everything he sees on his trips around the world.

However, a recent visit to Dublin left Spanian far from impressed, with the YouTuber describing the capital as a 's**t city in every aspect'.
The social media star, who has over 890,000 subscribers on YouTube, has launched a new series of videos which sees him tracing his heritage by visiting a number of countries where his family is originally from.
His latest video, which was posted to YouTube on Sunday, sees Spanian visit Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin and Limerick - with the Irish capital earning a scathing review from the vlogger.
After getting a bus from Belfast into Dublin city centre, Spanian remarked that 'this whole are smells like p**s' before he was left incensed by the price of booking a hotel room in the capital.
After securing accommodation on Talbot Street, Spanian travelled outside the city centre to visit Conor McGregor's Black Forge Inn to grab a bite to eat, with the YouTuber full of praise for the award-winning pub.
However, that proved to be the highlight of the YouTuber's trip to Dublin, with Spanian giving a withering response when summing up his time in the capital.
"I don't want to be harsh but... How do I say it? I wonder if Dublin was ever good, that's how I'm going to say it," he tells his viewers.
"It's so weird. I went from Belfast genuinely being one of the maddest cities that I've ever been to. Like the vibe of it - I would raise a family there - to here and it's like yuck. It's a s**t city in every aspect of it, sorry. Like I love Ireland... but Dublin is one s**t city. It was a shock. I can't believe it's Ireland.
"I don't know how long your city has been like this but lads, yuck. That's my breakdown. I hate that it's that harsh but I got to keep it real. I know I'm not going to lose Irish fans over it - they probably know their city is rubbish itself.
"I didn’t expect this from Ireland, it’s something you’d expect when you’re in Rome or somewhere like that."
Some Dubliners took to the video's comments section to defend their hometown, with one person writing: "Unfortunately the main bus station in Dublin and the location of the hotel where you stayed is in the more run down end of the city and not the nicest to walk around. Dublin definitely has its issues just like any city but I think you'd really enjoy it if you had more time to experience other parts of the city and suburbs."
Another added: "Dude you stayed on Talbot street, which is the absolute worst street in Dublin, not a week goes by without Talbot St being in the news for some robbery or stabbing or some other shenanigans, its very central too so that's why it was so expensive. Jump in a taxi and travel 5 or 10 minutes in any direction and you'll be in a nicer area with possibly better cheaper accommodation too."
A third person said: "Definitely didn’t do Dublin justice. For example, Had you gotten a train to Heuston Station - walked down Dame Street, past Trinity, stayed beside St Stephen’s Green, gone for a gander in South William Street, gone for food on George’s Street etc. Your experience would have captured the energy of the city. Even a side quest to Howth or Killiney Hill instead of McGregor’s pub. Was looking forward to this video for ages thinking you’d love the city but tbf it’s bad luck that you ended up at all the wrong parts. Even going from Smithfield to the hotel, had you gone from South to North instead of west to east of the inner city, you would have had a better experience."
