RTE's Des Cahill detailed the night of celebrations in Dalkey after Cuala secured their first-ever Dublin Senior Football Championship on Sunday.

Cuala shocked four-in-a-row chasing Kilmacud Crokes in Parnell Park to win their first title in a momentous day for the club.

Such was the enthusiasm for the game that the club chartered a DART to bring supporters from Dalkey to Killester.

Broadcaster Cahill is synonymous with the club itself, previously serving as Chairperson, and has an extensive volunteering background with the Dalkey-based outfit.

And he has warned that the celebrations on Monday could be even bigger than that on Sunday.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, he said: "It was a big day for us, it’s a big week for us now. I can’t give you a complete report on the celebrations because they’re certainly not over.

"We’re expecting Monday to be better than Sunday. Lots of people took the day off today. We’re going to repeat all the stuff we were singing and talking about last night and do it all over again today.

“It’s very emotional. I actually didn’t need to be drinking; I had a level of happiness that made up for any substance.

“I understand now what it’s been like for all those other clubs who are winning it down through the years as I watched on jealously."

An ecstatic Des took to social media during last night's celebrations, warning that he wouldn't be home any time soon.

It was a momentous day for Michael Fitzsimons as he won his first-ever Senior County title at the ripe age of 35. The legendary defender also holds the record with nine senior All-Ireland inter-county football titles.

Con O'Callaghan only further added to his CV, having won back-to-back Club All-Ireland titles with Cuala in Hurling and six Football All-Ireland titles with the Dublin Footballers.
