Boris Johnson reveals details of 'pathetic' attempt to get Meghan and Prince Harry to stay in the UK
Boris Johnson has admitted he made a pathetic attempt to persuade Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to remain living in the United Kingdom instead of moving stateside
Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson had revealed the "pathetic" attempt he made to try to convince Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to stay in the UK.
The Sussexes fled Blighty in 2020 to start a life stateside. They still reside across the pond with their two kids, Archie, five, and three-year-old Lilibet.
However, Boris has admitted he had urged the pair to remain residents of the United Kingdom. "Prince Harry and Meghan came to an event we did for female education," he said. "They were brilliant and she [Meghan] was particularly good and articulate on the detail. I got on well with both of them. I also worked with Harry when he did his Invictus Games for disabled veterans in the Olympic Park."

Speaking to Camilla Tominey on GB News Boris continued: "In a fit of pomposity I thought, this national asset is leaving our country. I think on the whole, he could be a force for good so I’m going to try and discourage him.
"I had a pathetic attempt at that. It didn’t work. I failed to avert Megxit, but I did deliver Brexit."
His words come ahead of his new memoir, which is set to be published next week. The book titled Unleashed covers the politician’s career, from mayor of London to foreign secretary to prime minister.
Among the headline grabbing stories from the book include claims the risk to peace in Northern Ireland from Brexit was exaggerated and was used by opponents “to trap the UK in the EU”. There is also the revelation that many of the politician's family members had pleaded with him to back remain, and Boris's insistence he would have won the July election.
On Friday, Boris also appeared on ITV and was grilled by journalist Tom Bradby. The interview came after BBC were forced to pull their discussion following a gaffe from Laura Kuensberg that revealed her talking points before the show.
In the ITV interview, the 60-year-old sat down with ITV's Tom Bradby, who didn't shy away from asking the difficult questions. He quizzed him on a series of statistics over Brexit’s effect on the economy. The former PM was seen to visibly squirm as he was asked if he regrets his Partygate apology to the Queen.
Appearing to giggle and smile prior to answering the question, he later insisted that he will not discuss his private conversations with the late Queen. Viewers of the interview were clearly shocked by Boris' bizarre facial expressions during the chat. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to slam his insensitive reaction to such a serious topic, one user fumed:" Boris Johnson is actually disgusting!!! That evil smirk on his face when he was talking about the late Queen??? What on earth is wrong with him."
