Liam Neeson receives special gift from Janey Godley who worked on it for a year
Janey Godley, 63, began knitting a colourful scarf for Liam Neeson, 72, a year ago - and it has finally arrived in New York, with the actor wearing it straight away
Liam Neeson has finally received a very special gift from Janey Godley days after the Scottish comedian revealed she is receiving palliative care following her terminal cancer diagnosis.
The 63-year-old star, from Glasgow, said Liam has received the scarf she had been knitting for him for a year. Sharing photos of the Schindler's List actor on X, formerly called Twitter, Janey wrote: "The Liam Neeson scarf has arrived and you can hear all about it here on BBC Radio 4. "
She added: "I've been knitting him a scarf for a year!" In the photos, 72-year-old Liam, wearing a denim shirt, poses with the colourful scarf, while another image shows Janey at work as she was knitting it.

Many people commented on the social media post as one wrote: "Fantastic scarf!! Well done." Another person added: "Ah that was a lovely listen for a Saturday morning. Thanks for that. Can't believe Liam Neeson sent you a photo back of him wearing your jazz knitting. How great is that! Love and hugs to you, Janey. xxx"
One more commented: "That's amazing. He seems to love it. You are in my thoughts. You are an incredible inspiration." Another agreed, saying: "Fabulous! Beautiful artwork." And someone else added: "Aw that's amazing Janey, looks like Liam loves it." While another person said: "Oh my gosh, this warms my heart so much."
Janey also shared the photos on her Instagram profile, with the caption: "The Liam Neeson scarf has arrived in New York and he loves it." Fans also praised her on the photo and video-based social media platform, where one wrote: "You did a grand job there Janey. He's wearing it with pride." Another person said: "Oo lucky man, gorgeous scarf & Liam's looking well in it."
It comes days after Janey confirmed she is now residing at a hospice and posted an image of her in her room, which overlooked a garden. Among her celebrity pals including Sarah Millican, who responded to the post with a series of red heart emojis, fans also inundated her comment section in response to the post. One said: "That's a nice ground floor room, with a view of greenery and sky." Another said: "Having visited several times a friend in a Marie Curie hospice, I know how caring, how relaxed the atmosphere will be. Lots of love and hugs."
Janey revealed she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer back in 2021, but by the following year, she was given the all-clear and announced the news to her followers on X. However, last month she cancelled her tour as doctors informed her that she had signs that the cancer had returned.
Sharing a video with her fans, she updated them in September saying: "The chemo ran out of options and I just couldn't take any more of it and the cancer has spread. So it looks like this will be getting to near the end of it and it's really difficult to speak about this and say to people." She also mentioned the charities that have supported her throughout her battle.
She then added: "I hope you all have a lovely Christmas. Hopefully I might be here. Who knows? Don't know. I'm not a tick tock. But I just want you all to that I'm sending all my love and support to everybody else out there who is living with a life-limiting disease."
