Man Utd co-owner Jim Ratcliffe flying in for Aston Villa match amid Erik ten Hag sack threat
Manchester United part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will attend Sunday's crunch Premier League clash with Aston Villa as rumours that Erik ten Hag is facing the sack persist
Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be in attendance for Manchester United 's clash with Aston Villa on Sunday - as speculation over Erik ten Hag 's future continues to mount.
The United manager is battling to save his job after overseeing a poor start to the new season. The Red Devils are currently 13th in the Premier League after winning just two of their opening six league games. Scrutiny has grown on Ten Hag in recent weeks despite the fact that the Dutchman was awarded a contract extension in the summer following noise he would be replaced at the helm.
The former Ajax chief has been left in a precarious position following their chastening 3-0 loss at home to Tottenham last weekend and Thursday night's dramatic Europa League draw with FC Porto.
Now the United head honcho will be flying into the UK for Sunday's crunch clash against the Villans - fresh from their Champions League win over Bayern Munich.
Ratcliffe will be in attendance at Villa Park in a fixture which could prove defining for Ten Hag with the international break looming.
Ratcliffe will have the final say on sacking Ten Hag if things were to reach that point, though any decision would be made alongside Sir Dave Brailsford and Joel Glazer. The trio would take recommendations from chief executive Omar Berrada and Dan Ashworth, the club's new sporting director. News of Ratcliffe's attendance at the weekend is unlikely to quell speculation that Ten Hag will be given the boot if United do not perform in their two fixtures this week.

The defeat at Tottenham on Sunday meany United have lost consecutive home matches in the Premier League without scoring for the first time since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's final days at the helm back in 2021.
Ten Hag, however, has remained defiant amid questions on his future.
Speaking after the loss to Spurs, he insisted he does not fear the sack, saying: “No, I'm not thinking about this. We are all on one page or in one boat together - the ownership, the staff, the players as well. So I don’t have that concern [the sack].
“We all made togetherness in this decision to stay together, as an ownership and as a leadership group. In the summer we also made the decision, from a clear review, on what we have to improve and how we want to construct a squad. But we knew it would take some time."
However, questions remain over exactly how much time he has left, and indeed, whether it is running out.
