Pedestrian, 40s, dies after late night car crash in Mayo as gardai close road

A pedestrian has lost his life after being struck by a car in Mayo late on Tuesday night.
Shortly before 11pm, Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the N60 at Carrowntober Oughter, Manulla, near Balla.
The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. The scene is preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, particularly road users with camera footage.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in County Mayo, on Tuesday, October 1”.
They added: “They are also seeking any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the incident to provide it to investigating Gardaí.
